MASTERPLAN FOR A NEW SMART CITY IN MOSCOW

SMART CITY is often regarded as a network of software-based devices that results in being an “invisible jacket” on top of the existing city. However, in this project, MADMA envisioned the physical/spatial outcome of how the SMART CITY will look in near future.

The project was designed for a closed international competition, for the urban planning and architecture concept of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye territory, an ambitious urban development project in the west of Moscow, having Zaha Hadid Architects, Mecanoo, AREP, Archea Associati, AECOM and Nikken Sekkei as competitors.

By focusing on the site’s natural characteristics, MADMA urbanism+landscape developed 6 main concepts that outline the project vision, scenario, and architectural and urbanistic mechanisms needed to create a unique and attractive environment:

MADMA urbanism+landscape then elaborated a set of urban guidelines, intended to help create a coherent development while still keeping the diversity a city needs to become inviting and entertaining to its citizens
